The Functional Genomics laboratory has recently acquired a Ventana “Discovery” slide processor; a generous gift of the Hartwell Center’s benefactor. This instrument is an impressive system for a variety of slide-based assays but will be used to process cDNA, CGH, promoter, and other custom microarrays produced by this laboratory. It offers significant advantages in terms of ease of use, minimal slide handling, coverless hybridizations, and more thorough mixing of reagents. These features typically result in lower backgrounds and higher signal strengths.
