Oligos containing Locked Nucleic Acid (LNA) bases can now be synthesized at the Hartwell Center. The increased thermal stability of LNA bases can be used to improve the specificity of primers and probes, to allow the use of shorter probes in RT-PCR and other assays, and to manipulate the Tm of oligonucleotides.
LNA-containing oligos can be ordered directly through the Hartwell Center's SRM online ordering system. LNA synthesis is significantly more expensive than standard oligo synthesis. For more information and price quotes, please contact the Macromolecular Synthesis group at extension 4219.
