What's Changing?
Data retrieval will be integrated into the Hartwell Center’s SRM (Shared Resource Management) system. Users will be able to log into SRM to place orders for the various services in the Hartwell Center, track the status of orders, download data for services that provide data, and generate reports for the various services. Data is available as far back as July 1996 for some of the services. Data Retrieval will allow users to save data to their local systems and to their “Research Home” on the Hartwell Center’s SAN (Storage Area Network). Users can also transfer sequence data to their SeqWeb accounts. Research Home will be the home directory for GCG and SeqLab and can also serve as a secure location to access data from other applications (Spotfire, VNTI, etc.)
When?
There is a planned outage of many of the Hartwell Center’s online services Saturday, January 14 from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. The current version of HC WebFetch will be retired on Saturday, January 14th at 8:00 am. The Data Retrieval system in SRM will be available after 4:00 pm on January 14th.
What are the new features?
Once you log into SRM, Data Retrieval will now have an option on the left side of SRM. Simply click on this link and you will access Data Retrieval directly without having to log in again.
The new interface will allow you to select individual or multiple services and group. (Control-click on a Windows system; Apple-click on a Macintosh system)
You can also set how many records you would like returned per page.

The search options give you the ability to quickly select defined date ranges (Today, This Week, Calendar Year, Fiscal Year) or to set a custom date range.
There are also additional fields that you can use to help focus your search.

The new search results page gives you:
- A quick way to navigate back and forward along the top of the page
- A “Select All” checkbox to pick all the files if required
- The ability to quickly sort by clicking on the header of a column
- The ability to get additional information on a sample by clicking on its Sample Name
- A quick way to navigate through multiple pages (First, Previous, Next, Last, Numbered Pages)

Once you click on the “Retrieve Data” button, you will have the option to quickly transfer the data by selecting the checkboxes next to the items you wish to download, selecting the location you would like to download the files to, and clicking the “Retrieve Now” button.
You can remove a certain type of data file by clicking the red X listed next to a file type. For example, if you did not want to download the Binary files, you would simply click next to the red X next to one of the instances listed and all the binary files would be removed from the list.
This screen also has the navigation tools at the top of the page and you can also sort any of the columns by clicking on their headers.
If you prefer, you can transfer items of interest to your cart by selecting their check boxes, click the “Add Files to Cart”button and then continue with another search.

Your cart provides the ability to quickly review and remove an items before proceeding with the transfer of the files.

What if I am in the wrong PI Group?
